Smugmug uses only the very best photograph printing companies and those companies have and will continue to have the very best state-of-the-art equipment. These vendors were selected in a major modern shot-out to find the very best in photo printing companies and get their members the very best pricing. You need not worry about the quality of these prints. They are continuously monitored for quality control and will produce the very finest prints possible from the photo they are given to print. Over 90% of the time, photographs that are returned for reprinting result in an identical print the second time. If you are not satisfied with the quality of these prints and Smugmug has also been unable to satisfy you, I will happily refund your money in full. No questions asked other than you must give Smugmug a reasonable opportunity to satisfy your demands.

The LUSTER Finish
All of Blue Dog's prints are delivered with the Luster finish. This finish is very near the sharpest possible picture that you can get with a glossy finish. In fact, with most photographs there is no discernible difference in sharpness when you compare a glossy print to a Luster print. In addition, Luster prints are resistant to finger-prints and are easier to clean without damaging the photo if some spill or mark should occur. Also, Glossy Photographs, especially Black and White photographs, are subject to distortion in the very dark areas that are caused by too much ink. This problem is usually avoided when the Luster finish paper is used.

The Originals Category
The photographs in the Originals category are just that, the raw scanned image from the photo or negative that has not been restored except at the very grossest level necessary to obtain an image. Original photos are not available for printing or downloading because I would much prefer to be given the opportunity to restore any photograph that you may want that is not already restored. In some cases I have already restored the photo but I have not yet uploaded it. Always check the Restored Category. If you want a print or download of any photograph that is not there Please Send An Email Requesting That Photograph.

The Restored Category
All restored photographs are available for you to download or order. The price of these photographs are set to provide Blue Dog with a small profit of $1 to $2 depending on size, after printing fees. This makes the price of a 4x6 print $1.46, a 5x7 is $2.50, and an 8x10 is $4.74. Many larger sizes and gift items are also available. This small profit will help to cover the cost of the computer, scanner, and software required to restore the photographs and the cost of hosting this website. There is one exception. A few photographs have been selected for the Showcase. Photos that appear in the Showcase may be purchased under Restored Photos in sizes smaller than 8x10. Print size 8x10 and larger must be order through the Showcase.

The Showcase
Some photographs have been deemed to have an especially high artistic value and, because of that belief, an especially large amount of effort went into restoring and finishing those photographs. These photos have been selected for our Showcase where the minimum print size is 8x10". Prices in the Showcase have been set at 100% over the Smugmug printing price. For instance, an 8x10 print from the Showcase costs $6.98. That same photo would cost $4.74 if it was available in the Restored category. However, all photographs in the Showcase are also available in sizes smaller than 8x10 in the Restored Category.
