How to Use This Website
Navigate the Home Page
First, Its always handy to know how to get back home! Click on
Use the CATEGORIES button to pull down a list of categories of galleries and select one by sliding the cursor over it and clicking. You will go to the categories page which shows all of the galleries in that category.
On the Galleries page just click on a gallery to open it. If this is your first time visiting in the last 60 days, you will be asked for a password unless you have already supplied that same password for another gallery. (Don't worry, there won't be a test.)
Navigate the Galleries Page
The typical galleries page shows a set of thumbnails on the left and the selected photograph on the right. (There are other, slightly different formats.) Click on a thumbnail and that photo will be shown on the right. You can click on the photo to see a larger view of the photograph. Click on the photo again to return to the gallery page.
Now, look just above the set of thumbnails. If this gallery has more than 9 or so photographs the addition ones will appear on other pages and there will be a navigation button that says Page 1 of 6 or whatever the total number of pages are. Click on NEXT to go to the next page or click on ">>" to go to the last page. Also, you can place your cursor over the of in the pages navigator and a list of page numbers will appear that you can select.
Email a Photograph
On the gallery page there is usually a button labeled share photo. Make sure that you have already selected the photograph that you which to send and click on the share photo button. An email form will be displayed showing the photograph and providing you with space to enter both your and the recipients email address.
Smugmug's email sends both the "fancy" version that includes HTML and a "plain" version for people who don't want that. Their email program will select whichever style they have elected to receive. Smugmug emails the large size photo which does not exceed 640K bytes and is suitable for viewing on a computer terminal. There's no need to worry about sending something that's to big.
Comment on a Photograph
On the gallery page there is a button labeled Add Comment below the photograph. A comment form will appear. Decide whether you want to comment on the whole gallery or just the selected photo. If you want you can rate the photo with 1 to 5 stars. Rating the photograph helps people locate the most popular photos.
Your comment will be emailed directly to Blue Dog and future visitors will be able to read it right here!
Rate Photograph
When you rate a photograph it is easier for people to find the most popular photographs. There are two ways. First, on the gallery page, place the cursor on the enlarged photograph on the right and a help box will appear to the right of the photo. Check thumbs-up or thumbs-down to voice your opinion. Or, you can go to the comment screen and rate the photo using one to five stars.
View a larger a Photograph
On the gallery screen, place the cursor over the enlarged photograph and a help box will appear on the right. You can select the small, medium or large size by clicking on that selection. You may also click on the photo itself and when it is displayed you can select S, M, or L at the top of the display. Click on the photo once again or click on the x at the top to return to the gallery screen. Prints are made from an even larger original that cannot be selected or emailed.
This is a brand new gallery with no photos.
